He noticed her first because she worn a midriff shirt thatbared her belly.  Then he realized shehad one hand pressed hard against it and from her expression he guessed she hadsome kind of tummy trouble.  So he’dwalked over to her at the park and sat down beside her on the bench.

“I think your stomach’s sexy,” he said.  She glanced up and made a face. “Right now mystomach hurts,” she said. “Really?” Her confession fired his lifelong stomachache fetish. “Did you eat something that didn’t agree with you?” She bentforward and moaned a little. “I ate too many tacos,” she said. “I kind of gotinto a taco eating contest with my bestie and now my stomach’s killing me.”

“How many did you eat?” “Ten,” she gasped. “Plus nachos.Ohh, my stomach.”

“I’m Trent,” he told her. “I could rub your stomach – it mighthelp.”  She smiled, a little. “My name’sDaphne,” she said. “I’m willing to let you try.”

He got her to lay on her back on the bench and he sat on thegrass.  He rubbed her stomach, first backand forth with slow gentle motions but she groaned so he tried doing it incircles.  That seemed to help and by thetime she said she felt better, he thought he’d come in his jeans.  So he asked her out and she said yes.

Trent soon found out this pretty girl was prone to stomachaches and he learned what troubled her tummy most.  At their first movie date, he coaxed her toeat popcorn until halfway through the movie, Daphne suddenly moaned. “Ohhh,”she whispered. “I’m too full.  I’mgetting a bellyache.”  “Maybe you’re justhungry,” he said, knowing she wasn’t and got her to eat another halfbucket.  After that, she pushed up hershirt and clutched her stomach. When he touched her belly, he could feel howfull and hard it was so he suggested they leave.  She got another belly rub and he got off onit.

Before long, Daphne had more stomach trouble than ever butshe didn’t complain.  She told Trent shewas falling in love.  No one had everhandled her tummy aches the way he did. Most people didn’t even want to hear about them or pointed her toward abottle of Tums.  With him she could whineand complain.  He even wanted to heardescriptions of exactly how her tummy hurt and she told him.  Trent didn’t feel guilty because he always helpedher feel better and they both enjoyed it.

Their dates branched out to buffets, Chinese food, footlongconey dogs, and more.  He nursed herthrough indigestion, heartburn, belly pains, stomach cramps, and tummy acheswith loving care.

When they got married, he insisted on a full meal plus cakeand all.  They stuffed up on chickenenchiladas with Spanish rice and refried beans after the wedding, then eventhough Daphne said her stomach really hurt, he insisted they eat plenty of cakebecause it was a tradition.  By the timethey left in a shower of rice, Daphne walked hunched over her belly.  As soon as they reached the hotel where heplanned to honeymoon, she doubled over and moaned out loud.  “Tell me where it hurts, honey,” he told herand she did. “I ate too much.  My stomach’stoo full and it feels like it’s about to explode.  I’ve got some burning pains from the Mexicanfood and the sweet cake is giving me bad pains. I’ve got so much gas I think I’m dying.” “There, there,” he said. “Let me rub your tummy.”

Her bellyache lasted most of the night and in the morning hetook her out to a huge breakfast buffet. They’d planned to go sight seeing but after she’d eaten pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, a platter of fresh fruit, scrambledeggs, and coffee cake, she rubbed her tummy. “Oh, Trent,” she wailed. “I atetoo much.” “Does your stomach hurt?” he asked. She nodded. “I’ve got a terrible tummyache.  I don’t know if I can go see the things weplanned.” “Let’s go back to the room until you feel better,” he said.  Her stomach had swollen to the size of abasketball and after the previous night’s bellyache, she really hurt.  Her abdomen felt very hard but he could feelthe sharp cramps that cut through it as she moaned.  For the first time the belly rub didn’t easethe pain and Daphne moaned, writhing on the bed until long after noon.  She turned onto one side and went tosleep.  She didn’t wake until evening butsaid her tummy still ached.

“I’m hungry,” he said. “I bet you’re hungry.  Let’s go eat Chinese.” He knew Asian foodalways tore her stomach up and she always ate too much.  She always agreed but this time, she shookher head. “I don’t feel like eating,” she said. “My stomach’s still full andhurts.”  He pleaded and coaxed so shefinally, after downing half a bottle of antacid, agreed.  Once at the restaurant, he watched herappetite come back as she smelled the delicious food.  Trent watched her eat beef and broccoli, kungpao chicken, general tso chicken, pork moo shoo, stir fry, a number of crabrangoons and egg rolls.  She still hadfood on her third plate when she put down her fork.  “Have some more,” he said. Daphne shook herhead, eyes glazed and clutched her stomach. “I can’t,” she moaned. “My belly’skilling me, Trent.” Then she pressed on her huge stomach with both hands. “Ilook like I’m nine months pregnant. Oh, I hurt so bad.”

“It’s just a food baby,” he said with a smile. “Come on, we’llgo to the hotel and I’ll rub your belly. Have some ice cream first.”  “Ican’t.”  She bent double in the chair andmoaned aloud.  “My stomach, my stomach,my stomach.”  The waiter came by andfrowned. “Miss are you okay?” “Nooooo” she wailed. “I’ve got a bad bellyache.”

Trent walked her out, loving every minute of it but back atthe hotel, her pains didn’t get better. Instead they got worse. Her bellyswelled up even bigger and she groaned louder and louder.  He rubbed her belly but this time she slappedhis hands away.  “My belly hurts too badfor that,” she told him. “I think I’m going to explode or something.  I’ve never have a bellyache this bad, never.”

“Tell me how it hurts.” “It aches so bad and there are sharppains shooting through my stomach,” she moaned. “Hurts like a knife.  Maybe it’s gas, I don’t know but the crampsare even worse.  I think I need to see adoctor.” “Aw, you don’t,” he said. But after another few hours as the painsincreased, he took her to a clinic nearby. The doctor took one long look at Daphne’s distended stomach, pressed onit and frowned at the rock hardness of it, and listened to her gut.  Then he called an ambulance to take her tothe hospital.  “What’s wrong with her?”Trent asked.  “Her belly is so far beyondcapacity she’s about to burst open,” he said. “She needs emergency surgery soshe doesn’t rupture.  I’ve never seensuch a severe case of overeating before.”

Daphne recovered but slowly. Her meals in the hospital were simple broths and light fare that didn’ttrouble her stomach.  And when she wenthome, she had strict orders to remain on a strict diet and to never overindulgeagain.  “Come to my office at the firsttummy twinge,” the doctor told her. “Any indigestion, the slightest stomachache could be deadly for you because your digestive system is so damaged.  It’s very important you don’t overeat or eatthings which cause pains.”

Daphne’s experience frightened her so she did what thedoctor said.  And when she no longersuffered tummy pains or bellyaches Trent began to lose interest in hiswife.  They drifted apart, then divorced andone day he was at the library, reading books about stomach issues, when henoticed a pretty woman rubbing her belly. He sidled over and said, “Stomach trouble?” She nodded, “I’ve got a badbellyache,” she told him. “I ate a banana split awhile ago and it always tearsme up.” “I could rub it for you,” he said and a brand new belly romancebegan.

I'm rubbing my belly 'cause I got a bellyache again!

See, now that's exactly what I was thinking.

Understatement, really.  That guy would be more dangerous than romantic.

Don't mean to be critical, though.  Whatever floats the author's boat, I suppose.
